Clipped Signature - Sir Hugh Chance.

Joined the Worcestershire Regiment in 1915 but signed up for the Royal Flying Corps in April 1916. He was sent to France to fly Martinsyde G.100 Elephants with No.27 Sqn and on 17th September was hit and forced to land. He was taken prisoner until the end of the war, and was a director of lighthouse engineers Chance Brothers until 1964. He died in 1981.

Born on the last day of 1896, he joined the Worcestershire Regiment in 1915 War before transferring to the Royal Flying Corps in April 1916. After training as a pilot and serving in the UK, he was sent to France with No.27 Sqn flying the Martinsyde G.100 Elephant as a bomber aircraft. On 17th September his aircraft was hit on a raid over Valenciennes and with engine failure he was forced to crash land. He was taken into captivity until the end of hostilities. Post-war he became a director of Chance Brothers until retiring in 1964. He died in 1981.
