PCX17. Corporal - 17th Duke of Cambridges Own Lancers, France 1914 by Bryan Fosten. After service in the Crimean War, the 17th Lancers saw action in India during the Mutiny, 1857, and in South Africa in the Zulu War of 1879, and the Boer War of 1899 - 1902. The regiment embarked for France on the outbreak of the Great War in 1914, and fought throughout the conflict, gaining the Battle Honour - France and Flanders 1914 - 1918. Added to that general honour is a roll of individual Battle Honours that include Festubert 1914, Somme 1916 and 1918, Amiens, Hindenburg Line, St Quentin Canal, Cambrai 1917 and 1918, and Pursuit to Mons. The 21st Lancers, in the meantime, gained the Battle Honour - North West Frontier India, 1915 and 1916. Postcard published 1987. Image size 6 inches x 4 inches (15cm x 10cm)
