David Dipnall

David Dipnals evocative images of the restful idyllic scenes of southern England are well known, epitomising, as they have for years, all that is endearing about traditional English landscapes. His well known images of his beautiful and fertile homeland are a world away from Australia, where he now spends most of his time. In the last decade, David Dipnall estimates that he has travelled nearly 2 million miles, continuing to maintain a busy work schedule of exhibitions and regularly commuting between England and Australia. His originals are highly sought after, and over fifty of his images have been published as limited edition prints, many of which have sold out. Always a traveller, he believes in the philosophy that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and his beautifully detailed traditional English landscapes are definitely painted from the heart.

Half Price! - £25.00 		In 1275 BC there were two superpowers in the ancient near east, in the south the Egyptians and in the north the Hittites from Anatolia in modern day central Turkey. A clash between these two powers was inevitable. The Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses II marched an army north into Syria to confront the Hittites and their allies under King Muwatallis. Reaching Kadesh Rameses camped under the walls of the city with his leading division, Amun, and awaited the arrival of the rest of his army. Poor intelligence had led Rameses to believe the Hittites were far to the north, in fact they were only 2 - 3 miles away. Muwatallis delivered a surprise attack against Rameses camp but the Egyptians managed to hold on until re-enforcements arrived. Despite retreating from the field after a day long battle it was Rameses who claimed a victory. The two armies never clashed again and eventually a peace treaty was signed between the Egyptians and the Hittites.

Half Price! - £1650.00 		Between 18th and 23rd February, 1991, immediately preceding the ground assault, Iraqi defensive positions were bombarded by British and American artillery. The Artillery Raids took place just inside the Saudi border all along the front line, from the east coast to west of the Wadi al Batin. The 1st Armoured Division's contribution to the raids was the largest concentration of British artillery since the Second World War. Further behind the M109 and M110 guns and the locating batteries were the armoured vehicle-mounted rocket launchers of the Multi-Launch Rocket System (MLRS). 39 Heavy Regiment, the only British regiment equipped with MLRS, fired five 'fireplans', one of them at night. MLRS can ripple-fire 12 rockets in less than one minute. The Artillery Raids were a major factor in the success of Operation Desert Sword because they contributed to the deception plan by concealing the main point of effort. The ammunition itself was terrifyingly destructive. Furthermore, Iraqi morale, already damaged by the air assaults, was crushed by the artillery bombardment. At the right of the scene a DROPS vehicle of the Royal Corps of Transport is delivering Rocket Pod Containers, and gunners are preparing to re-arm the MLRS.

Half Price! - £50.00 		D squadron 22 SAS, made their way to the Argentinian landing strip where they proceeded to destroy 11 enemy aircraft with demolition charges, 66mm rockets and small arms. The destruction of these enemy aircraft, among them Paccaras, most certainly saved many lives among the Task Force and proved a valuable morale booster at the same time.
