Musa Qala, Afghanistan, 25th May 2008. While returning to Sangin following an operation in support of 2 PARA battlegroup, the Vikings of 3rd Troop, Armoured Support Company, Royal Marines were the target of an enemy ambush. As the convoy began to cross the Helmand river the waiting Taliban engaged the convoy with RPGs, heavy machine gun and sniper fire. Amazingly despite this hail of fire no one was hit until tragically Marine Dale Gostick was killed and two others injured when his vehicle was blown up by a massive IED.

Half Price! - £3800.00 		Between 18th and 23rd February, 1991, immediately preceding the ground assault, Iraqi defensive positions were bombarded by British and American artillery. The Artillery Raids took place just inside the Saudi border all along the front line, from the east coast to west of the Wadi al Batin. The 1st Armoured Division's contribution to the raids was the largest concentration of British artillery since the Second World War. Further behind the M109 and M110 guns and the locating batteries were the armoured vehicle-mounted rocket launchers of the Multi-Launch Rocket System (MLRS). 39 Heavy Regiment, the only British regiment equipped with MLRS, fired five 'fireplans', one of them at night. MLRS can ripple-fire 12 rockets in less than one minute. The Artillery Raids were a major factor in the success of Operation Desert Sword because they contributed to the deception plan by concealing the main point of effort. The ammunition itself was terrifyingly destructive. Furthermore, Iraqi morale, already damaged by the air assaults, was crushed by the artillery bombardment. At the right of the scene a DROPS vehicle of the Royal Corps of Transport is delivering Rocket Pod Containers, and gunners are preparing to re-arm the MLRS.

The Hindenburg Line known also as the Siegfried Line was a vast system of German defences in northeastern France between Lens and past Verdun. Built over the winter of 1916 and 1917, the high command in Germany believed the Hindenburg line was was impregnable. But in 1917 during the Battle of Cambrai it was temporarily broken by the British and Newfoundland troops. Included in these forces were tank units, and the line was successfully breached a number of times during the hundred day offensive by the Allied forces in September 1918. Shown in this painting are the wounded being taken back behind lines by medical personnel as the reinforcements and supplies move forward.

The original painting is 10 metres by 6 metres, and the official title is : Consecration of the Emperor Napoleon I and Coronation of the Empress Josephine in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris on 2nd December 1804.

Governor General Lord Richard Wellesley ordered his younger Brother General Arthur Wellesley (Later to become Duke of Wellington) to command a British and native force of 4,500 men to the South -Central part of the Peninsula. (At thr same time He also Sent General Gerard Lake to the north of India, see Battle fo Laswarree for further details) General Arthur Wellesley, met a much larger Maratha Force of some 26,000 strong at Assaye in Hydrabad. on September 23rd 1803. The Battle of Assaye became one of the bloodiest battle Arthur Wellesley fought, receiving 1500 casualties out of a force of 4,500. But the Maratha were routed and Assaye was a British Victory.
